The city also boasts low taxes, with no personal or state income tax, very low property taxes, and a combined state and local sales tax of only 6%!

Attractions: With excellent parks and recreation facilities, cultural enrichment centered around the University of Wyoming, the charming Downtown Laramie Historic District, a diverse range of locally-owned and chain restaurants, and several annual festivals, the city of Laramie provides a wide variety of entertainment and activities for families and individuals. Laramie has a rich Western history which is preserved in part through the Downtown Laramie Historic District where many buildings from the late 1800s remain standing. The largest annual event is Jubilee Days, scheduled around the 4th of July, featuring a rodeo, carnival rides, a street fair, live music, free food, a softball tournament, and more!

Given the cold winters, the city's Parks and Recreation Department provides an array of indoor facilities, including lap and leisure pools, gym, indoor playground, and more. In addition, the University of Wyoming has stellar athletic facilities for enjoying a Cowboys or Cowgirls game. If you enjoy museums, take the entire family to the UW Geological Museum, featuring over 50,000 rock, mineral and fossil specimens, including dinosaur fossils. While at UW, take in a performance at the Fine Arts Concert Hall or visit the American Heritage Center, a research facility and exhibition space for Western arts and history!

But people don't move to Laramie just for the city life! This area is an outdoor-lover's paradise! In the winter, you can enjoy downhill skiing and snowboarding at Medicine Bow Peak, and ample snowmobiling areas near town. Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest is ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter as well as camping, hiking, mountain biking and much more in the summer. Vedauwoo, a rocky, high plains area near Laramie, is a choice rock climbing destination as well!
